Pastor's Message

You Have Our Attention Lord

Our friends lost their house, a co-worker lost her job. The couple next door lost their retirement and it seems that everyone, everywhere, is losing their footing. And it scares us. Things haven’t been this bad since the “depression” and most of us just heard stories about those times. The bailout from all the greed and corruption will cost billions. The headlines have these ominous warnings “Going Broke!”, “Going Down!”, “Going Under!”, “What’s Next?” What’s next for all of us? What do we do in the midst of all this anxiety and stress? How do we cope? We can get away, we can slowly withdraw or we can realize what is constant and unchanging in our lives; the steadfast grace of God.

It is like hitting a middle C tuning fork; the sound is pure and constant even though the sounds all around seem out of tune. God warned us about love of money. Money is a fickle lover, it loves you and leaves you and if you put too much hope in it that hope will ultimately be dashed. Maybe now is a time to start listening. Now is the time to hear that middle C, that love of God, that will not disappoint, is not a fickle lover and will hang in there to the end and beyond. Can we in the midst of the storms, stress and doubt begin again to be in harmony with the middle C of God’s grace? It is time to get back to the basics of faith, love and hope. God, we can listen. God, we know that you can and will make something good out of this mess. God, we pray that the sound of your grace, that middle C, rings loud and clear in our lives to remind us of where our true faith, hope and love lie. God, you have our attention now; rain your peace down on this disorder, (Just song words I have been thinking about. I hope they help).

Join us for worship as we truly find ways to get in tune and sing praises to our God.

See you in worship,

Pastor Jim
